Apple just unveiled the latest iPhone. With an advanced camera, unparalleled processor and reasonable price, the iPhone 11 may reignite smartphone sales.
The iPhone 11 debuted with predictable, yet exciting features. Once again, Apple is doubling down on camera technology. With the popularity of social media platforms, such as Instagram, consumers will often choose a smartphone based on camera capabilities. Let’s take a look what the iPhone 11 has to offer.
Cameras are one of the most important features on smartphones. The iPhone 11 boasts two 12MP Wide and Ultra Wide cameras. The cameras are capable of 2x optical zoom, with up to 5x digital zoom. Other features include:
- optical image stabilization
- brighter True Tone flash
- Potrait mode with advanced bokeh and Depth Control
- five (Ultrawide) and six (Wide) element lenses
- Night mode
- Portrait lighting with six effects
- 4K video recording at up to 60 fps
- extended dynamic range for video
- optical image stabilization
- slo-mo video support
- continuous autofocus video
- audio zoom
The iPhone itself is one of the most rugged smartphones on the market. Encased in cutting-edge, strengthened glass, the iPhone 11 offers industry-leading durability. Apple’s new smartphone can be submerged in two meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
The 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD LCD display features 1792 x 828 resolution at 326 ppi. Although this is lower resolution than HDTV, on a small screen, it’s more than enough. Human retinas can only perceive a finite number of pixels. Anything beyond 326 ppi is superfluous. The new display features a 1400:1 contrast ratio and is fairly bright at 625 nits, making daytime use easier on the eyes.
At its core, the iPhone 11 features a new A13 Bionic chip. The new processor’s third-generation Neural Engine is capable of running complex algorithms to enhance photo and video editing, among other tasks. Apple claims the A13 Bionic chip to be the fastest smartphone processor on the market today.
The iPhone 11 has many more new features. The device starts at $699. A generous trade-in offer brings the price down to as low as $99. Upgrading to a 128 GB model costs $50 more. As Apple gets more competitive with pricing, their competitors’ low cost alternatives may seem less appealing.
Markets seem to like the new iPhone. Apple stock typically declines after iPhone announcements. This new set of smartphones seems to please investors.
