- Controlling the COVID-19 pandemic requires that people stay at home.
- Stay-at-home orders across the world have increased streaming video demand.
- EPIX and other networks offer free access or extended trials during the pandemic.
EPIX Streaming Free on Apple TV App
MGM’s premium cable channel, EPIX, currently offers free access through the Apple TV App. Anyone with an Apple device can access EPIX, without signing up for anything. The streaming service is free, with no strings attached.
Apple device owners access EPIX, and other streaming channels, via the TV app. The first-party app provides TV and Movie content for the Apple ecosystem.
How to Access EPIX on Any Apple Device
iOS devices, such as the iPhone and iPod touch, have the TV app pre-installed. The iPad runs iPadOS, which also features the TV app. Access EPIX by tapping on the TV app’s icon. When the TV app finishes loading, tap on the Watch Now tab at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down the Watch Now screen until you see the EPIX icon. Launch the service by tapping on the icon.
Apple TV users can also access EPIX for free. Hold down the Siri (microphone) button on the Apple TV remote and say “EPIX” (epp-picks). The EPIX app will launch. Follow the on-screen instructions to access EPIX movies and TV shows.
The TV app recently debuted on macOS, replacing the dysfunctional and obsolete iTunes media platform. Mac users can launch the Apple TV app from the Dock. Once started, tap on the Watch Now tab at the top. From the Watch Now screen, scroll down and click on EPIX under the Channels submenu.
How Long Will EPIX Be Free?
EPIX’s free access offer is generous. The service is available to all Apple device owners until May 2, 2020. Free access seems to be exclusive to Apple. The EPIX website is still selling subscriptions and seven day free trials.
Overall, the move comes at a historic time. A global pandemic has people sheltered in place. Many have lost their jobs or are temporarily unemployed. Even those who lack a social conscience have nowhere to go. It’s great to see a corporation providing free, high-quality entertainment at a time when it’s so desperately needed.
